Equality and Diversity in TLP
This week's B.U.N topic has been very thought provoking. Together, children have created a 'learning wall' which represents all the different aspects which underpin equality and diversity in our school and wider community.
It's a huge topic, but as always, the children were eager to learn and felt strongly that it was important that everyone felt safe to create a positive school community and friendships and relationships are best built on respect and acceptance. It was also important to be welcoming and inquisitive when learning about others and their cultures and backgrounds.
They also felt like they wanted to celebrate their own unique qualities and abilities. One of the children said, "When we speak positively about our abilities and who we are, it should make you feel like a Friday celebration assembly!"
Mrs Riley thought this was a beautiful analogy and really explained the feeling that children get when they feel celebrated, valued and seen.
To support younger learners, the KS2 children decided to keep the colours of the learning wall simple and chose a font that was easy to read. The artwork was chosen to represent everyone, after all ... at Wold Academy everyone is welcome!
