Carpet Tube Fun in F2
A parent kindly donated carpet tubes to F2, providing a rich, open-ended learning opportunity. The children explored the tubes in a variety of ways, demonstrating curiosity and creativity. They worked together to manage risks safely while using hand saws to cut the ends off the tubes, taking turns and following safety instructions carefully. They used the tubes as ramps to race vehicles, investigating how different angles affected speed and distance. The children measured the tubes, compared lengths and recorded numerals, developing early mathematical skills. They also carefully manoeuvred the large tubes around the classroom, strengthening their gross motor skills, balance and coordination. Throughout the activity, the children showed excellent problem-solving skills as they tested ideas, adapted their approaches and collaborated with their peers.
